Nitish Rana and Hrithik Shokeen got involved in a bitter on-field spat after the former's dismissal during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 encounter between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians in Mumbai on Sunday. Rana has been enjoying a brilliant run of form in the ongoing tournament but he ended up miscuing a shot off Shokeen's bowling. The ball went up quite a bit and substitute fielder Ramandeep Singh made no mistake in completing the catch. Shokeen decided to give a small send-off to the KKR skipper and that resulted in a war of words between the two cricketers. Both could be seen shouting at each other as teammates and match officials tried to keep them separate.
As the Mumbai Indians turned up for the Indian Premier League 2023 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, skipper Rohit Sharma couldn't be a part of the playing XI due to a stomach bug. It was his deputy Suryakumar Yadav who donned the captain's hat for the match. While Rohit's absence gave Surya an opportunity to try his hand at captaincy, it also paved the way for uncapped Indian all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar to make his IPL debut, two years since he was first signed by the franchise in the 2021 auction.
Mumbai Indians were without skipper Rohit Sharma as they took on Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 clash on Sunday. After winning the toss and opting to bat first for his side, Surya was asked about the reason behind Rohit's absence from the match by Ravi Shastri. The stand-in MI skipper explained that the Hitman was out of the match due to a stomach bug.
Five-time champions IPL Mumbai Indians (MI) players will don the jerseys of their Women's team for the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday, April 16. It is part of the Mumbai franchise's initiative Education and Sports for All (ESA) Day. MI's women's team, led by India captain Harmanpeet Kaur, won the inaugural WPL trophy last month after beating Delhi Capitals in the final. For the game against KKR at the Wankhede Stadium, MI players will don the special jerseys to promote the idea of sports as a career option for girls in the country.
If Mumbai Indians captains Rohit Sharma takes the field against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday, he could become only the fourth batter to score 6,000 or more runs in the IPL. The 35-year-old is only 34 runs away from achieving the milestone, having amassed 5,966 runs in 230 matches. He is the fourth-highest run-getter in the history of IPL. Only David Warner (6109), Shikhar Dhawan (6477) and Kohli (6838) have breached the 6,000 mark in the cash-rich league.
Mumbai Indians will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their IPL 2023 match on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After facing consecutive defeats in their first two matches, the Rohit Sharma-led side registered it's first win after they defeated Delhi Capitals in their previous match. MI, who are already dealing with the absence of their senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah, are also missing out on the services of pacer Jofra Archer, who has been out of action, since the campaign opener.
Mumbai Indians, which is often termed as the late bloomers in IPL, secured their first win of this season when they defeated Delhi Capitals in the latter's backyard. Rohit Sharma-led side will now look to continue the winning momentum but they face a tough opponent in KKR. Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar reckons it will be interesting to see how Mumbai Indians perform at home as they seemed to have cracked the winning code this season.
