On Report Of Rishabh Pant Facing 140 Kmph Deliveries In Nets, Fans Can't Keep Calm

The Indian cricket spectrum rejoiced after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) last month informed that Rishabh Pant resumed his batting practice. It was the first time since his horrific car accident in December last year that Pant put on his batting gear. On December 30, Pant's car crashed on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, with the wicket-keeper batter suffering major burns and injuries on his body. Despite having resumed batting and wicket-keeping, the return date for Pant still seems quite far away. However, if a report is to be believed, Pant is showing good signs of progress during his practice sessions.

"A Little Bit Of Injury, You Will Play IPL But Not For India": Kapil Dev's Scathing Attack At Stars

A true legend in Indian cricket, Kapil Dev isn't known to mince his words when it comes to sharing his opinions on raging topics in the Gentlemen's Game. The 1983 World Cup winner isn't a pleased man, having seen how Indian cricket has evolved over the last few years. With injuries to key players hurting the team's performances in mega events, Kapil questioned the commitments of Indian stars, suggesting they would not mind playing the Indian Premier League (IPL) with minor injuries but when it comes to doing the same for the national team, they would prefer to sit out.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Climbs 11 Spots, Rohit Sharma 9th In ICC Test Rankings

Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his ascent in the ICC Test rankings, rising 11 places to 63rd while his skipper Rohit Sharma inched up to ninth among batters in the latest list released on Wednesday. Scores of 57 and 38 in the drawn second Test against the West Indies in Port of Spain have catapulted 21-year-old Jaiswal in the batters list as he now has 466 points. Rohit, who had scores of 80 and 57 in second Test, continued to remain the highest-ranked Indian Test batter. He has 759 point and is tied on the ninth place with his Sri Lankan counter part Dimuth Karunaratne.

"If Someone Else Gets Selected...": Ishan Kishan's Brilliant Take On Competition In Indian Team

Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan left everyone utterly impressed with a heroic knock of 52 runs against West Indies in the second Test. Ishan, who is two-match old in the longest format, smashed his maiden Test half-century off just 33 balls on Day 4 and helped Team India reach a good total. However, Kishan's journey has been one of patience and endurance, where he has had to bide his time and wait for opportunities to come his way in all three formats of the game.

Watch: Using 'RP17' Bat, Ishan Kishan Does A Rishabh Pant Against West Indies

Wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan switched on his beast mode and showed his batting prowess on Sunday during the second Test between India and West Indies. Ishan, who is just two-match old in the longest format, took only 34 balls to reach his maiden Test half-century. His fiery fifty helped Team India reach a huge total as they declared their innings at 181/2, setting a 365-run target for hosts. During the match, Ishan smashed a one-handed six which reminded the fans of wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.

"Might Not See Rishabh Pant In Next IPL...": Delhi Capitals Star Ishant Sharma. Explains Why

The Indian cricketing spectrum rejoiced as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Rishabh Pant has resumed batting practice, for the first time since his near-fatal car accident in December last year. However, veteran Delhi Capitals pacer Ishant Sharma isn't too optimistic about Pant's return. In fact, the lanky pacer isn't expected Pant to be fully fit and available for the IPL next year too. But, Ishant is relieved of Pant making a quicker comeback as he didn't undergo a second surgery.

Ishan Kishan A Prey Of "T20 Or White-ball Effect"? India Legend Gives This Logic

The Test series against West Indies has seen the Indian team management give chances to new faces. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mukesh Kumar, and Ishan Kishan made their Test debuts. Kishan has played in limited overs format before for India. In the absence of Rishabh Pant, who is recuperating after suffering a car crash last year, Kishan has got several chances and is clearly being looked as an option in the attacking batter-wicketkeeper role. However, batting-wise he has not been able to impress so far. In the first Test, he took quite a long time to open his innings. In the first inning of the second Test, he started well but fell on 25 after playing 37 deliveries.

Jasprit Bumrah In "Final Stages" Of Rehab, Rishabh Pant "Batting And Keeping" In The Nets: BCCI's Important Updates

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday shared important medical and fitness updates on five top players, who are currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The players include, fast bowlers  Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, batters KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, along with wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. All five players are key elements in Indian cricket's scheme of things, especially with the World Cup being hosted by India later this year. "Mr Jasprit Bumrah and Mr Prasidh Krishna: The two fast bowlers are in the final stages of their rehab and are bowling with full intensity in the nets. The duo will now play some practice games, which the NCA will organise. The BCCI Medical Team is pleased with their progress and will make a final decision after assessing them following the practice games," the BCCI said in a release.
