NEW DELHI : England white-ball captain Jos Buttler was retained by Rajasthan Royals for next year's Indian Premier League (IPL) but compatriot Jofra Archer was released by Mumbai Indians on Sunday.
Delhi Capitals released 10 players including Chetan Sakariya, Rovman Powell and Sararaz Khan ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction. Rille Roussow, Phil Salt and Mustafizur Rahman were the other major foreign players who did not find a place in the DC retention list. Indian cricket team's star player Rishabh Pant on Saturday posted a cryptic message on his Instagram story. "No more forcing friendships or relationships. Either it flows or it goes," was the text written on the southpaw's story. Pant refrained from mentioning anyone in the message and kept the fans guessing. It is worth noting that Pant is currently out of competitive action. He has remained on the sidelines as he continues to recover from his car accident that happened in December last year.
Former Indian cricket team fast bowler S Sreesanth made an early prediction about the possible squad for T20 World Cup 2024 and it had a major exclusion. While almost all the players from the Cricket World Cup 2023 squad was included in his prediction, the two exclusions were Ravichandran Ashwin and opener Shubman Gill. Pant posted a video on his official X (Formerly known as Twitter) account. He is recovering well from the injuries sustained in a car accident last year. "Thankful to god at least I have started seeing some light in the dark tunnel. #blessed #RP17," tweeted Pant. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had on July 21 issued an update on the recovery of its key players like Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul and Shreyas. Rahul, along with Iyer have resumed batting practice in nets and are also undergoing strength and fitness drills.
