MS Dhoni "Might Start Thinking About Retirement If...": Ricky Ponting's Bombshell

Chennai Super Kings are currently facing their worst nightmare in the ongoing season of the IPL. The five-time champions, who began their campaign with a four-wicket win against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians, went on to lose the next three games and are placed in the ninth spot in the points table. Apart from this, one person who is facing severe criticism for his back-to-back poor shows is CSK veteran MS Dhoni. The 43-year-old is facing the heat for his poor batting performances and lack of intent.

IPL 2025: On-Fire Shreyas Iyer Gets New Nickname From Ricky Ponting

Punjab Kings head coach Ricky Ponting compared skipper Shreyas Iyer to a 'Rolls-Royce in third gear' after the skipper produced a measured half-century to shape his team's big win against Lucknow Super Giants. Ponting, in an interaction with his team, reminded the players to "not take anything for granted" during the IPL 2025 campaign. Iyer smashed 52 not out, his second unbeaten half-century in as many games, as PBKS overhauled the 172-run target in 16.2 overs for the loss of two wickets.

Lucknow Super Giants Eye First Home Win Of IPL 2025 Against Punjab Kings

New skipper Rishabh Pant will be eager to make his mark as Lucknow Super Giants look to win their first home game of the season when they host an in-form Punjab Kings in the IPL in Lucknow on Tuesday. Pant, who became IPL's most expensive player in the auction last year, will be determined to justify his hefty Rs 27 crore price tag after low returns as a batter in the first two games. His captaincy at LSG started with an unfortunate loss, as they fell short by just one wicket against his former team, Delhi Capitals.

"Will Nail A Couple Of Overs": Ricky Ponting Stunned By Shreyas Iyer's Game-Changing Call For PBKS vs GT

After Punjab Kings sealed a narrow 11-run victory over Gujarat Titans in a high-scoring contest, head coach Ricky Ponting revealed what made him bring on Vyshak as an impact player, saying captain Shreyas Iyer asked him to bring the medium pacer to nail a couple of overs at yorkers and close out the game. After Iyer led from the front, scoring an unbeaten 97 in 42 balls at a strike rate of 230.95, to help his side to a mammoth total of 243/5 in 20 overs, it was Vijaykumar Vyshak's crucial middle-over spells that restricted GT to 232/5 at the end of their 20 overs to seal a narrow win .

Big bucks Iyer leads Punjab Kings to win over Gujarat Titans in IPL

AHMEDABAD: India batsman Shreyas Iyer led from the front with an unbeaten 97 to set up a 11-run win for Punjab Kings in a big-hitting IPL clash with Gujarat Titans on Tuesday. Iyer’s 42-ball knock steered the team to 243-5 after being invited to bat first at the world’s biggest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. Gujarat finished on 232-5 despite a valiant 41-ball 74 by opener Sai Sudharsan who set up a blazing start to the run chase, featuring a 84-run second wicket stand with England’s Jos Buttler (54). Both sides walloped 16 sixes each across the two innings on the fourth day of the cash-rich Indian Premier League T20 tournament. Iyer, who led Kolkata Knight Riders to a title win last year, has already gone some way to justifying his top price tag, after Punjab paid a whopping 3.17 million dollars in the November auction. The top-order batter started with a boundary off Gujarat’s South African import Kagiso Rabada and three balls later smashed a six. He allowed attacking opener Priyansh Arya to take charge as the Indian young left-hander hammered 47 off 23 deliveries before being denied his fifty by Afghanistan spin wizard Rashid Khan. Gujarat’s Sai Kishore joined the bowling charge to strike twice in two balls, including trapping Australia’s Glenn Maxwell lbw for a first-ball duck, but Marcus Stoinis avoided the hat-trick. Maxwell walked back without a review but tracking technology later revealed the ball would have gone over the stumps as a dejected Punjab coach Ricky Ponting looked upset. Iyer stood strong as he took on the attack with sixes and fours and found support from Australian hard-hitter Stoinis, who smashed a 15-ball 20 before becoming Kishore’s third wicket. Iyer reached his fifty in 27 balls and kept up the
