It's Division 2 football for Down next year following a comprehensive 11-point victory over Clare in Pairc Esler on Sunday that saw them top the Allianz Football League Division 3 table, with a trip to Croke Park for a final against Westmeath next Saturday the icing on the cake.
Westmeath and Down remain unbeaten at the top of Division 3 after a pulsating game in Mullingar ended in a draw, an eminently fair result on the day.
Down secured their fourth Division 3 win on Saturday in Pairc Esler with a two-goal victory over Offaly who are still searching for their first win. Only one of those goals was in the first period, with a strange spell in the second half when the green flag was raised five times.
Down pulled away to earn what was, ultimately, a comfortable victory over neighbours Antrim at Corrigan Park as Conor Laverty's men made it three wins from three in Division 3 of the Allianz Football League.
