Ruud, who has trained at the Spanish ace's academy, hailed Nadal as a "true champion" but also made a hilarious remark that left the crowd at Court Philippe-Chatrier in splits.

With his triumph over Ruud, he became the oldest player to win the French Open. Nadal now has two Grand Slam titles more than Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, who both have 20 each.
