Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant Fifties Set Up India's Series-Clinching Win Over West Indies In 2nd T20I

Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant hit fifties while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel produced superb bowling in slog overs as India survived some anxious moments before walking out with an eight-run win over West Indies in the second T20I that handed them an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series in Kolkata on Friday. Chasing a stiff 187, wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran (62 off 41 balls) and Rovman Powell (68 not out from 36 balls) hit belligerent fifties to keep them in the hunt as they needed just 29 runs from the last two overs. But death bowling specialist, Bhuvneshwar Kumar revived India's hopes by removing the dangerous-looking Pooran with a slower off-cutter.

India vs West Indies 2nd T20I Live Score: Sheldon Cottrell Sends Back Ishan Kishan In The 2nd Over

IND vs WI 2nd T20I, Live Score: Sheldon Cottrell has struck early and has removed Ishan Kishan, who has looked completely out of touch so far. The ball climbed on Kishan and he got a leading edge, which was caught at point. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan failed to put away two free hits in the very first over bowled by Akeal Hosein. West Indies have won the toss and opted to bowl against India in the second T20I of the three-match series at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata today. India remain unchanged while the visitors have made just one change from the team which was beaten in the series opener, with Jason Holder replacing Fabian Allen. West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard makes his 100th T20I appearance as well. India had won the first T20I on Wednesday by 6 wickets. The hosts will look to take an unassailable 2-0 lead against the visitors. Focus will also be on Virat Kohli, who hasn't been at his best of late. West Indies, on the other hand, will look to bounce back and force the series into the decider. The third and final T20I will be played at the same venue on Sunday. (LIVE SCORECARD)

India vs West Indies 2nd T20I Live Score: West Indies Win Toss, Elect To Bowl vs India

IND vs WI 2022 2nd T20I, Live Score: West Indies have won the toss and opted to bowl against India in the second T20I of the three-match series at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata today. The visitors have made just one change from the team which was beaten in the series opener, with Jason Holder replacing Fabian Allen. The hosts will look to take an unassailable 2-0 lead against the visitors. With debutant Ravi Bishnoi, Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer doing exceptionally well in the series opener, which India won by six wickets, the big question is, will Rohit Sharma make any changes to India's playing XI for the second match? He had mentioned after the first T20I that it was unfortunate that Shreyas Iyer had to miss out because the team wanted an extra bowling option. Apart from Shreyas Iyer, the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj are also in the squad. Focus will also be on Virat Kohli, who hasn't been at his best of late. West Indies, on the other hand, will look to bounce back and force the series into the decider. The third and final T20I will be played at the same venue on Sunday. (LIVE SCORECARD)

Unhappy Simon Katich resigns as SRH assistant coach over baffling buys at IPL auction

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad is once again in the news for all the wrong reasons after former Australian batter Simon Katich resigned from the post of assistant coach, reportedly being unhappy with some of the side's hefty auction buys. Katich, who along with West Indies legend Brian Lara and former India batter Hemang Badani, were added to the SRH coaching group headed by Tom Moody and Muttah Muralitharan, resigned immediately after the auction. The SRH management, headed by Kavya Maran, hasn't yet issued any public statement whether Katich's resignation has been accepted or if he will be requested to reconsider his decision. 'The Australian' reported that Katich's resignation was primarily due to the fact that the pre-auction strategy discussed wasn't followed at the two-day auction where SRH had some whopping big buys like Nicholas Pooran (Rs 10.75 crore), Washington Sundar (Rs 8.75 crore) and Rahul Tripathi (Rs 8.50 crore). Some of the SRH big buys have been baffling, although it's not always a player's quality but the auction dynamics that determine the final price of a player.

Simon Katich Quits SunRisers Hyderabad After Franchise Ignores Pre-Auction Plans: Report

Former Australia batter Simon Katich has quit the Indian Premier League (IPL) SunRisers Hyderabad less than two months before the tournament starts. As per a report in 'The Australian', Katich decided to walk out after a disagreement on how the team was being managed and he also felt that the franchise disregarded the pre-auction plans. Earlier, SunRisers Hyderabad was involved in a major controversy after they sacked David Warner as captain last season and then the batter was even ousted from the playing XI.
