Delhi are currently fifth in the IPL 2022 Points Table with 12 points from 12 games, including six wins and six defeats. In their previous game, Delhi defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by eight wickets in Navi Mumbai. All eyes will be on star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who took two wickets in 25 overs to restrict RR to 160 for six. During the chase, the Australian slammed 89 runs off 62 balls as DC reached 161 for two in 18.1 overs.
Delhi Capitals' skipper Rishabh Pant reckoned at the toss that anything in the range of 140-160 would be a good target for them to chase down against Rajasthan Royals at the DY Patil Stadium on Wednesday. His words turned out to be true, as the pace trio of Mitchell Marsh, Chetan Sakariya and Anrich Nortje took two wickets each to restric Rajasthan to 160/6 and then DC chased the total down with ease to win by eight wickets. All-rounder Marsh came out to lead the run-chase with a 62-ball 89 while David Warner hanged around to play the anchor role, remaining unbeaten on 52 off 41 balls as Delhi earned a crucial win with 11 balls to spare, which has kept them alive in the race to playoffs. "It was close to a perfect game as, I believe, there is always space for improvement. On these kind of wickets where there is little turn, you can go either way. I am happy we bowled first. I thought 140-160 was a good score and said so at the toss, and we got there," said Pant after the match.
Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by eight wickets in Match 58 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. Riding on Mitchell Marsh's all-round heroics, Delhi Capitals got their act together in the nick of time to upstage Rajasthan Royals by eight wickets and keep their IPL playoffs hopes alive in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday. After their bowlers restricted RR to 160 for six, Marsh's 62-ball 89 and David Warner's unbeaten 52 off 41 balls helped the Capitals complete the task with 11 balls to spare for their sixth win of the season that saw the team suffer setbacks both on and off the field, including multiple COVID-19 cases in its camp. With the ball, Marsh had picked up the two important wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal (19) and Ravichandran Ashwin (50). Then, he smashed seven sixes and five fours to emerge as the night's hero.
Ravichandran Ashwin has reached several milestones in his T20 career with a ball in hand but on Wednesday it was time for Ashwin the batter to come to the fore.
