South Africa batter Quinton de Kock is set to retire from the ODI format with the conclusion of Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. Cricket South Africa (CSA) shared the information while announcing the squad for the mega event. De Kock made his debut in the format in 2013. He has so far played 140 matches for South Africa, scoring 5966 runs at an average of 44.85 and a strike rate of 96.08. The southpaw has hit 17 centuries and 29 half-centuries. His highest score in the format is 178.
The Proteas will be without Marco Jansen for the remainder of the T20I series against Australia in Durban.

Dewald Brevis will take a step onto cricket's big stage during Australia's white-ball tour of South Africa, which starts with the first of three Twenty20 internationals at Kingsmead on Wednesday.

Cricket South Africa on Monday named 18 players for a five-match one-day international series against Australia next month, the team's last outings before the Cricket World Cup in India. But not all the players will be travelling to India for the tournament in October and November. A 15-man World Cup squad will be named on September 5, two days before the first one-day international. Some of the squad will be hoping to impress in three Twenty20 internationals before the one-day series. They include Dewald Brevis, 20, who is set to make his international debut during the T20 series.
