Poor refereeing in the Indian Super League (ISL) has long been a source of frustration for many coaches, but the national federation's top officer Trevor Kettle on Sunday claimed that the standard of referees in the country is "improving in many competencies". Several coaches of ISL clubs, mostly foreign, have in the past talked about the poor standard of refereeing in the top-tier league and even the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) President Kalyan Chaubey had expressed concerns on the matter a few months back.

All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Kalyan Chaubey expressed deepest condolences on the tragic loss of lives in the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam and described it as a "senseless act of violence". The brutal attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on Tuesday killed 26 civilians, mostly tourists and left many more injured. "On behalf of the entire Indian football fraternity, we express our deepest condolences on the tragic loss of lives in the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam. This senseless act of violence has taken away innocent lives and left families and communities shattered. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims during this heartbreaking time," Chaubey said as cited in the AIFF.

Churchill Brothers have withdrawn from the Super Cup tournament starting April 20 in Bhubaneswar, protesting against the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) decision to not officially declare them as 2024-25 I-League champions, calling it a "blatant disregard of rules and precedent" by the national governing body. In a letter written on Saturday to AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey, the Goan club also cited "irregularities" in the conduct of the Super Cup draw as another reason for the pulling out of the April 20-May 3 tournament.

The top brass of the AIFF, including its president Kalyan Chaubey, met Mandaviya on Thursday to brief him on the existing AIFF-FIFA Academy in Odisha and the plan to build additional four such facilities in different zones. "An elaborate plan has to be chalked out and put in place for execution so that India can reach a FIFA ranking below 50 in the next ten years," Mandaviya was quoted as saying in the AIFF release.

AIFF Lodges Police Complaint After Anonymous Caller's Threat To "Life and Property" Of Kalyan Chaubey

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has lodged a complaint with Delhi police, alleging that it has received an anonymous call issuing threats to life and property of its president Kalyan Chaubey. An AIFF official lodged the complaint for "registration of FIR against unknown miscreants" at the Dwarka Sector 23 police station on Thursday. The complaint said that the AIFF office, also located at Dwarka, received a call on September 10 issuing "threats to the life and property of not only Chaubey but also his family." "Delhi police has received a complaint at Dwarka Sector 23 police station and are conducting an inquiry," a senior police officer told PTI.

Lucknow, the city of Nawabs, is gearing up to hosts traditional rivals Mohun Bagan and East Bengal for the first time on September 2 as part of plans to promote football in Uttar Pradesh.
