HARARE : Seamer Shardul Thakur took 3-38 as India completed a five-wicket win over Zimbabwe to claim victory in their three-match One-Day International series with a game to spare at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday.
After winning the first ODI against Zimbabwe by 10 wickets, the KL Rahul-led Indian cricket team started the second ODI on a strong footing too. After opting to bowl first, India restricted Zimbabwe's run-scoring pace in the initial overs. Zimbabwe reached 20/0 in just over eight overs when Mohammed Siraj gave India the first breakthrough by dismissing Takudzwanashe Kaitano. However, wicketkeeper Sanju Samson played a big role in the dismissal and he took a diving catch to dismiss the Zimbabwe batter.

Zimbabwe could not have hoped to have gone into the ODI series against India in higher spirits, having beaten Bangladesh in both the T20I series and the ODI series that followed. Zimbabwe Cricket on Thursday named the 17-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India, beginning August 18 in Harare. Regis Chakabva will be leading the hosts while the likes of Sikandar Raza, Ryan Burl, and Bradley Evans are also a part of the squad. The series, which forms part of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League, will see Zimbabwe and India meeting in three one-day international matches scheduled for 18, 20, and 22 August at Harare Sports Club.
Regis Chakabva will lead a 17-member Zimbabwe squad in the three-match ODI series against India starting here on August 18. The three matches will be played at the Harare Sports Club. The second and third matches are scheduled on August 20 and 22 respectively. According to a press release issued by Zimbabwe Cricket, "Chakabva will lead the home side in the absence of regular captain Craig Ervine who is still nursing a left hamstring tear."
Bangladesh opener Liton Das will miss the remainder of the one-day international series against Zimbabwe with a hamstring injury, the country's cricket board said Saturday. Liton suffered the injury during Friday's five-wicket loss in the first game of the three-match series and will be sidelined for at least three weeks, said the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Liton made 81 before he retired hurt with the injury and underwent a scan which revealed a muscle strain.
