After sitting out of the first ODI, India all-rounder Shardul Thakur bowled an excellent spell on his return to the playing XI for the second ODI against Zimbabwe. Shardul bowled a match-winning spell, taking three for 38 in seven overs as India bowled out Zimbabwe for a paltry total of 161 after electing to bowl. In the 12th over, Shardul dismissed opener Innocent Kaia off the first ball, before also getting the better of Zimbabwe captain Regis Chakabva on the final ball. He then added a third after castling Luke Jongwe in the 33rd over.
Sanju Samson produced a responsible unbeaten 43 after a clinical bowling display, led by pacer Shardul Thakur, as India sailed to a five-wicket win over Zimbabwe in the second ODI to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series here on Saturday. HARARE : Seamer Shardul Thakur took 3-38 as India completed a five-wicket win over Zimbabwe to claim victory in their three-match One-Day International series with a game to spare at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday.
After winning the first ODI against Zimbabwe by 10 wickets, the KL Rahul-led Indian cricket team started the second ODI on a strong footing too. After opting to bowl first, India restricted Zimbabwe's run-scoring pace in the initial overs. Zimbabwe reached 20/0 in just over eight overs when Mohammed Siraj gave India the first breakthrough by dismissing Takudzwanashe Kaitano.
