Pakistan All-rounder Imad Wasim Retires From International Cricket

Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim on Friday announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing curtains to his eight-year international career. Wasim took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce his decision, having played 121 international matches across ODIs and T20Is for Pakistan. Imad's final outing for his country was in April this year in a T20I against New Zealand at Rawalpindi. The Welsh-born Wasim made his international debut with the Men in Green in May 2015 in a T20I against Zimbabwe at Lahore.

Karachi Kings pacer Mohammad Amir was in sublime form during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match against the Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi on Wednesday. Despite his team falling short in the end, Amir got the ball rolling with three wickets in the powerplay. He dismissed Zalmi openers Mohammad Haris and Babar Azam in the first over, before also getting the better of youngster Saim Ayyub in the third over. Amir gave Haris his marching orders with a toe-crushing yorker, also leaving the Pakistan star injured.

Karachi Kings president, Wasim Akram, lost his cool after his side lost to Multan Sultans by 3 runs in a league match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). The defeat was Karachi's fourth in just five PSL outings so far, with three of those have been while chasing. Losing close encounters while chasing clearly took its toll on Akram as the former Pakistan captain kicked a sofa, which was kept in front of him. Karachi Kings registered a 67-run victory over Lahore Qalandars in their previous Pakistan Super League match on Sunday. Asked to bat first, the Kings posted a total of 185/5 in 20 overs after James Vince smashed 46 off 36 balls. Apart from him, skipper Imad Wasim also scored 35 off 19 balls. Later, Qalandars were bundled out for 118 after Akif Javed took a four-wicket haul. The match turned out to be major disappointment for Qalandars' skipper Shaheen Afridi as the star pacer conceded 39 runs in his four-over spell and could scalp only wicket.

Pakistan Super Legue (PSL) witnesed another thrilling finish on Tuesday as Peshawar Zalmi edged out Karachi Kings in a last-over finish to win by two runs. Karachi's courageous chase of 199/5 posted by Peshwar was led by their new captain Imad Wasim, who made 80 off 47, but that went it vain as his effort could only take the team to 197/5.For Peshawar, Tom Kohler-Cadmore made a stroke-filled 92 off just 52 balls, while Babar Azam contributed with a knock of 68. New Zealand's James Neesham (2-26) picked up two early wickets and Karachi had slumped to 46-4 inside the first seven overs before Wasim and veteran Shoaib Malik (52) combined in a meticulous 131-run stand and raised the home team's hopes.
