India's Champions Trophy Squad: Reason Behind Mohammed Siraj's Absence, Yashasvi Jaiswal's Omission Explained

It aligns with head coach Gautam Gambhir's high-risk-high-reward approach but can India's Champions Trophy squad, having lost its game-changing pace talisman Jasprit Bumrah to injury, deliver the goods at the ODI showpiece? The answer to that question is not particularly straightforward given the audacious calls taken to decide the final 15. The selection risks start with the drafting in of five spinners. The Dubai-bound flight will feature Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, and Varun Chakravarthy in a spin-heavy bowling attack.

"We Practice So Much": Gautam Gambhir Jokes As England Get Blasted For Lack Of Training After 3-0 Series Sweep To India

The England cricket team suffered a 3-0 ODI series sweep at the hands of India. The Rohit Sharma-led side had already sealed the series in Cuttak and it registered a whitewash with a one-sided victory in the final game in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. While the England cricket team was under scrutiny during the tour for its poor performance, the final match was no expection. As the visiting batters struggled against Indian bowlers during the game, former India batting all-rounder Ravi Shastri, who is now a commentator, lashed out at the visiting team. He pointed out that the England players didn't have enough practice sessions.

"You Can't Play...": Gautam Gambhir Makes Rishabh Pant's Champions Trophy Playing XI Chances Crystal Clear

India's head coach Gautam Gambhir made it clear that KL Rahul is team's first-choice wicketkeeper going into the Champions Trophy and the flamboyant Rishabh Pant is not being considered as an option in the playing eleven in the immediate future. Among all the players that were chosen for the England ODIs, only Pant wasn't given a start by the head coach as all the others got at least one game if not three. Rahul, who initially batted at No. 6 in the first two games, didn't look comfortable and fared far better at the familiar No. 5 position with a useful 40 off 29 balls in India's one-sided 142-run victory in the third ODI here.

Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma Face Fans' Ire Over Changes To India's Champions Trophy Squad

In a huge setback for Team India, as it gears up for the Champions Trophy, marquee pacer Jasprit Bumrah was been ruled out of the tournament due to a lower back injury. While Bumrah's fitness was deemed okay, the selectors decided to not risk him in the ICC event. Instead, they decided to name Harshit Rana as his replacement. While the Bumrah and Harshit swap was forced, the board also made an unforced change by bringing in spinner Varun Chkravarthy in place of opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal. Though the team management had its reasons behind the said changes, fans aren't entirely on board.
