On a dramatic day in which a number of racers were in the hunt for the top prize, the Swiss star powered to victory on the day, allowing her to leapfrog Elena Curtoni, who began the day top of the overall standings. Ad Curtoni’s compatriot, Federica Brignone, was beaten into second, with Norway’s Ragnhild Mowinckel's run good enough for third place.

The American, who overtook Lindsay Vonn for the most wins by a woman in January, was in imperious form as she wrapped up her first giant slalom Crystal Globe in four years.
