The Swiss-Italian driver will return to the track this weekend in New York City for Rounds 11 and 12 of the world’s premier all-electric series off the back of a victory in Marrakesh last time out.
MARRAKESH: Edoardo Mortara hit the top of the Drivers’ World Championship with victory in the Marrakesh E-Prix round 10 as the ROKiT Venturi Racing driver fended off pressure from DS TECHEETAH teammates Antonio Felix da Costa and Jean-Eric Vergne throughout.
ROKiT Venturi Racing’s Edoardo Mortara secured his third race victory in Season 8 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship at an exhilarating Marrakesh E-Prix. A fourth podium in four races for the Swiss 35-year-old has propelled him to top of the drivers' championship. Mortara leapfrogged title contenders Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes-EQ) and Jean-Eric Vergne (DS-TECHEETAH) with victory in the searing heat in Marrakesh.
Edoardo Mortara thanked his team for helping him convert a sluggish start to the weekend into race victory at the Morocco E-Prix in Marrakesh on Saturday afternoon.
The Swiss driver collected his third victory of the season in a tentative Morocco encounter, where hot conditions ensured that teams were seeking to stave off the threat of overheating batteries - and thus precipitated an uncharacteristically early trade of attack modes among the front-runners.
Starting from sixth, Evans was pitched into an early tussle with Pascal Wehrlein, after the Porsche driver had been passed early on by Jake Dennis for fourth place.
