ROKiT Venturi Racing’s Swiss-Italian racer Edoardo Mortara goes into a home weekend top of the Drivers’ Championship after another points-scoring race last time out in Mexico, a race in which TAG Heuer Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein exercised his demons to secure a maiden victory on the same track he was pipped at the line three years previous.

Mortara scythed past eventual winner Pascal Wehrlein on lap eight with a tremendous run out of the Peraltada corner and diving past into Turn 1.
Wehrlein crossed the line for the 39th lap of the race with two seconds to spare before the timer elapsed, adding an extra lap on to the overall duration – which Porsche was able to cope with to secure a 1-2 finish to conclude its first FE victory in style.
Wehrlein had a difficult road to convert his pole position into victory, as Porsche elected to start saving energy early on in the race, losing the lead to championship leader Edoardo Mortara as the Venturi driver grabbed an excellent drive out of the Peraltada to clear the German at Turn 1.
Season 8 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship returns to the iconic Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit in Mexico City this Saturday for the 2022 Mexico City E-Prix after a two-year absence. Last year’s Championship winner and runner-up – Mercedes-EQ’s Nyck de Vries and ROKiT Venturi Racing’s Edoardo Mortara – both took victories in the season-opening double header in Diriyah, with Mortara leading the former by four points in the Drivers’ Championship.
