Manchester United have been charged with failing to control their players during their 0-0 draw with Newcastle at Old Trafford on Sunday. United's players reacted angrily after referee Craig Pawson disallowed a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo. Ad Ronaldo dispossessed Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope and tapped the ball into an empty net as he believed Fabian Schar had taken a free-kick by rolling the ball to his team-mate.
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has urged people within the game to be «careful with their comments and opinions» after Jurgen Klopp made remarks on the Tyneside club’s spending power and ambitions. Klopp spoke out after Newcastle’s sporting director Dan Ashworth made an assertion that “I don’t think there’s a ceiling” on the club’s ambition. “He is absolutely right,” Klopp said.
