Ferrari will unveil the car that Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc will be driving in this season's 2022 F1 World Championship on February 17. The Italian team bounced back from their worst season in 40 years in 2020 to finish three places higher in third in the constructors' championship last term. New recruit Sainz finished an impressive fifth in the drivers' standings, having ended the year with a podium, with Leclerc 5.5 points behind in seventh. "Sainz and Leclerc will once again pilot the red cars this term, with Team Principal Mattia Binotto to talk to Sainz about a contract extension beyond the end of the campaign in the coming weeks. Leclerc is onboard until the end of 2024," read an official statement.

Carlos Sainz celebró que se cumplía un año de su primer test en Fiorano, con el Ferrari SF71H… subiéndose al mismo coche en idéntico circuito para completar la primera jornada de entrenamientos en pista de 2022. Fueron 59 vueltas (176 kilómetros) para recuperar sensaciones en una mañana fría antes de ceder el monoplaza por la tarde a su compañero, Leclerc. Más allá del deja-vu, mucho ha cambiado la situación del madrileño en doce meses: de recién llegado a eje del equipo; de piloto con mucho por demostrar a autor de cuatro podios y quinto del Mundial; del reto de enfrentarse a Leclerc a superarlo.
