IndyCar: Ed Carpenter signs Conor Daly as full time driver
Kevin Magnussen made an eye-catching return to Formula One on Friday when he topped the times in pre-season testing in Bahrain, just 48 hours after replacing Nikita Mazepin at Haas.
Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton were second and fourth fastest in pre-season testing as the row over Mercedes' car took a new twist.
SAKHIR, Bahrain (AP) — Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz set the fastest time during preseason testing on Friday, while Kevin Magnussen was back for Haas in the place of fired Russian driver Nikita Mazepin.
Carlos Sainz concluded another strong day of testing for Ferrari, though Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton were much stronger than on Day 1. Pierre Gasly was the fastest on Thursday for Red Bull’s sister team, AlphaTauri, though Yuki Tsunoda’s performance for the team on Friday left him in 10th place.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said the Mercedes design complied with the rules a day after being quoted saying it was «illegal».
