VeeKay lapped the 2.366-mile Barber Motorsports Park track in 1m06.2507s to beat last year’s Barber polesitter Pato O’Ward by 0.15s and land his first pole since the opening race of the Indianapolis Grand Prix double-header in October 2020.
Following opening practice for the fourth round of the 2022 IndyCar season at Barber Motorsports Park, Rossi said F1’s arrival in Miami is “going to be awesome” and said that adding a Las Vegas race in 2023 was justified, which will see F1 expand to having three races in the US, plus the Canadian GP and the Mexico City GP also in North America.
Herta lapped the 2.366-mile 17-turn Alabama course in 1m06.5149s to shade defending series champion and 2021 Barber winner Alex Palou (Chip Ganassi Racing) by 0.05s.
