NEWCASTLE: Eddie Howe has warned that Financial Fair Play regulations makes PIF’s Newcastle United spending spree “unsustainable.” The Magpies have spent more than $225 million in the last two transfer windows on the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak. And while Howe welcomes that approach, he is of the understanding that Financial Fair Play — which is a metric based largely on financial losses compared to commercial revenue — will eventually mean that, without Champions League football, United will have to curb their spending. “I do think it’s unsustainable.
N'Golo Kante (France)The Chelsea midfielder suffered a setback in his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury that has restricted him to two appearances this season. He will be sidelined for four months after undergoing surgery. Reece James (England)The 22-year-old right back injured his knee in Chelsea's Champions League clash against AC Milan in October and looks certain to miss the tournament in Qatar after being ruled out for eight weeks.
Newcastle United losing Alexander Isak to injury is a “huge blow”, says journalist Dean Jones.
NEWCASTLE, England: Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak will not play again until after the World Cup finals after suffering an injury setback, manager Eddie Howe said on Tuesday (Oct 18).
Alexander Isak is set to be out until after the World Cup because of a thigh injury, confirmed Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe. The 23-year-old has played just three times since joining Newcastle from Real Sociedad for £60m in August and scored on his debut against Liverpool. He also scored a penalty against Bournemouth on September 17th.
Newcastle are “genuine contenders” for a top six finish this season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
Eddie Howe has insisted Newcastle will play with no fear against Manchester United at Old Trafford this weekend.
