Adrian Holdstock, Ahsan Raza Join ICC Elite Panel Of Umpires As Aleem Dar Steps Down

South Africa's Adrian Holdstock and Pakistan's Ahsan Raza have been added to the ICC's Elite Panel of Umpires for 2023-24, with veteran Aleem Dar stepping down. The addition of Holdstock and Raza sees the number of umpires in the panel rise up to 12 from 11. The additions were overseen by the ICC Elite Umpire selection panel, headed by ICC General Manager - Cricket, Wasim Khan. Holdstock has officiated in five Tests, 42 ODIs and 48 T20Is. Raza has stood in seven Tests, 41 ODIs and 48 T20Is. Aleem Dar, a distinguished international cricket umpire who has officiated 435 men's international matches, has also stepped down from the panel.

KL Rahul shattered Virat Kohli's record to become the fastest Indian batter to score 8000 runs in T20 cricket. Rahul reached the stunning milestone during the IPL 2025 encounter between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans on Sunday. The record previously belonged to Kohli who slammed 8000 runs in 243 innings. However, Rahul achieved the feat in just 224 innings and in the process, he became the first Indian batter to score 8000 T20 runs in under 230 innings. Overall, Chris Gayle tops the list with 213 innings while Babar Azam is second with 218 innings. Rahul is currently third in the elite list.

Saim Ayub was unbeaten on 42 and Saud Shakeel on 28 at the break, having added a fighting 65 in their fourth-wicket stand.

Umpires Nitin Menon and Jayaraman Madanagopal, along with ICC match referee Javagal Srinath will be the Indian representatives at the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Americas next month. The ICC on Friday announced the list of 26 match officials set to be in charge for the first round of the month-long event to be held in the United States of America (USA) and the West Indies, starting June 2. There will be 20 umpires who will be officiating in 55 matches across nine venues, which also include renowned ICC umpires -- Richard Illingworth, Kumar Dharmasena, Chris Gaffaney and Paul Reiffel.
