IOVW is successor of the Intergovernmental Organisation - International Bureau of Vine and Wine (BIVW), set up according to an agreement of eight countries (France, Spain, Tunisia, Portugal, Hungary, Luxembourg, Greece and Italy) in Paris on November 29, 1924.
