Sri Lanka Name Squad For Test Series Against India; Kusal Mendis, Maheesh Theekshana Ruled Out Of Remaining T20Is

The 18-member Sri Lanka Test squad, led by star batter Dimuth Karunaratne and featuring veterans such as Angelo Mathews, Lahiru Thirimanne and Dinesh Chandimal, checked in in Dharamasala on Friday for the two-match series against India starting March 4 in Mohali. However, senior batter Kusal Mendis and spinner Maheesh Theekshana have been ruled out of the last two T20 Internationals with the latter going back home owing to a hamstring injury. Kusal is, however, going to stay back as he is part of the Test squad and will be added subject to fitness. Niroshan Dickwella, who recently came out of suspension for bio-bubble breach in England last year, has been drafted into the T20 squad along with Dananjaya de Silva, both of whom, are also a part of the Test squad.

India, on the other hand, have won 99 matches from a total of 157 matches played so far. India, thus, have a higher success rate in terms of win percentage, as compared to Pakistan. With the 2nd T20I of a three-match series against Sri Lanka in Dharamshala on Saturday, India have the chance to join Pakistan to become only the second team with 100 or more T20I wins. Both Pakistan and India are some distance ahead of South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, who are placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the list.
