Dinesh Karthik on Tuesday said he could understand it would have been a "hard one to swallow" for Wriddhiman Saha when the team management decided to move on from him but said the call was pretty understandable as Rishabh Pant had "pretty much nailed his place in the side." Lauding the wicket-keeping skills of Saha, who was excluded from the Indian Test squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, Karthik said, "But you can see Rishabh Pant has pretty much nailed his place in the team. So then, you can understand which direction the Indian team is going in where they feel that if it's going to be a second keeper role, then they'll look at somebody younger."

The Indian cricket board on Tuesday cleared the decks for fans to attend star batsman Virat Kohli's 100th Test - against Sri Lanka starting on Friday in Mohali.
Virat Kohli's 100th Test match at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, which begins from Friday, the BCCI has allowed 50 per cent fans at the venue to watch the landmark game from the stands. "The first Test between India and Sri Lanka to be played at the Punjab Cricket Stadium in Mohali will not be held behind closed doors. The decision to allow spectators into the ground is one taken by the State Cricketing Associations and in the present circumstances, is based on various factors. I have spoken with the PCA office bearers and they have confirmed that cricket fans will be able to witness the historic moment of Virat Kohli playing his 100th Test match," BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly on Tuesday said that there will be no crowd restrictions in the first Test between India and Sri Lanka in Mohali and the spectators will be allowed as per government directives. The Mohali Test will also be Virat Kohli's 100th game in the longest format. "Virat Kohli's 100th test match will have no restrictions. BCCI asks the state associations to open up on the basis of govt directives. It is as per the government norms," Ganguly told ANI.
India batter Shreyas Iyer has been in fine form, winning the Man of the Series award in the recently-concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka. During the series, Shreyas, who came to bat no. 3 in all the matches, notched up 203 runs as India pulled off a clean sweep over the visitors. India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik was in awe of Shreyas recent exploits, saying that the batter has had to fight his way back into the team, having picked up a shoulder injury which halted his progress last season.
