HANGZHOU, China : Three North Korean marksmen refused to join their South Korean rivals in a group photo of medal winners at the Hangzhou Asian Games after narrowly missing out on gold in a men's team shooting competition on Monday.
Indian shooter Vijayveer Sidhu could not finish among medal winners in the 25m rapid-fire pistol men's final shooting event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Monday and stood at the fourth position at the end of the competition. Sandhu had 21 points which took him out of the medal contention. The Indian rapid-fire pistol shooting trio of Anish, Vijayveer Sidhu and Adarsh Singh secured a bronze medal in the 25m rapid-fire pistol team men's event. The Indian men's 10m air rifle team created history on Monday as the trio of world champion Rudrankksh Patil, Olympian Divyansh Panwar and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar clinched the Gold medal in the Men's 10m Air Rifle event. In the process, the trio broke the world record in a team event, aggregating a total score of 1893.7 in the qualification round. Rudrankksh shot 632.5, Tomar 631.6 and Panwar 629.6 to aggregate the world record score. Rudrankksh and Aishwary qualified for the Men's Individual 10m Air Rifle final in the process. Two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen stamped her authority in the women's 50kg by registering a dominant 5-0 win over Vietnam's Thi Tam Nguyen while Preeti Pawar (54kg) moved to the quarterfinals of the Asian Games on Sunday. In a rematch of March's world championship final, Zareen once again defeated two-time Asian Champion Nguyen by unanimous decision to move to the pre-quarters. Putting up a dominating show, talented Indian boxer Preeti notched up a an RSC win over Jordan's Silina Alhasanat. One of only four boxers to not get a first round bye in the 50kg event despite being the reigning world champion, Zareen controlled the proceedings from the word go.

Ange Postecoglou's side trailed to Cristian Romero's first half own goal before South Korea forward Son hauled them level at the Emirates Stadium. The Indian men's team missed out on an Asian Games bronze medal in table tennis after a second-string South Korea blanked them 3-0 in the quarterfinals on Sunday. Harmeet Desai lost the first match 0-3 to An Jaehyun. G Sathiyan tried to put up a fight, but it was not enough to get past Park Ganghyeon as India trailed 0-2 after the first two ties. The onus was on Achantha Sharath Kamal to bring India back into the contest. However, things did not quite unfold in the manner the Indians would have liked as the veteran from Chennai went down 2-3 to Oh Junsung.
