Rwanda prepares ‘surprise package’ for Super Eagles in Kigali

Head coach of Amavubi of Rwanda, Frank Torsten Spittler, says they will take advantage of playing at home when the Super Eagles visit Kigali for their matchday 2 game in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.   The Rwandans drew 1-1 away at Libya in their opening group game, and will host the Super Eagles at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on September 10.Spittler hailed his players for getting a point away from home and believes his team is taking shape ahead of the game against the Super Eagles.   “We always score one goal, and it brings us pressure throughout the 90 minutes. Our team is, however, taking shape and we can get better. We know our next game against Nigeria won’t be easy, but we hope to make the best out of our home advantage. Now every point counts and this draw with Libya brings us more confidence,” Spittler said after the 1-1 draw in Libya.   The German is also confident Jojea Kwizera would have recovered fully from fatigue which forced his substitution in the game against Libya.   “Jojea came from afar and had only one training session with us. I knew it would be difficult for him because of the conditions but he tried. He is a good player and, as he can now spend few days of training preparing for Nigeria, he will be essential for us,” he added.
