IPL 2025: CSK Coach Hits Bullseye As He Explains Reason Behind MS Dhoni's Batting Position

After coming out to bat at the No. 9 spot, MS Dhoni featured as a No. 7 batter for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 6-run defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has seen Dhoni bat quite down in the order, ranging from No. 7 to No. 9. Having already produced a few fine cameos with the bat, there are many who wonder why the franchise isn't sending Thala up the order, at a position where his explosiveness can benefit the team more. After the defeat against the Royals, CSK coach Stephen Fleming solved this mystery, putting the topic to bed forever.

Watch: CSK Fangirl's Reaction To MS Dhoni's Dismissal Goes Viral, Triggers Memes

Chennai Super Kings' 'Thala' MS Dhoni produced another unfulfilling performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. Taking up the No. 7 spot in the batting order, Dhoni produced a few fireworks before getting caught in the deep by Shimron Hetmyer on the bowling of Sandeep Sharma. Seeing Dhoni depart, the entire Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati went silent despite it being the home ground of the Royals. Fans were hoping to see another successful chase from the bat of the master MS Dhoni, but Hetmyer ensured that he didn't let that happen by taking a brilliant diving catch at the deep mid-wicket boundary.

Pushpa Fever Grips IPL Yet Again As Wanindu Hasaranga's Wild Celebration vs CSK Goes Viral

Rajasthan Royals leg-break spinner Wanindu Hasaranga's love for South Indian movies was the underlying factor behind his 'Pushpa' style celebration against Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The Sri Lankan ball tweaker's four-wicket haul inspired the Royals to their first win in the 18th edition of the cash-rich league on an action-packed Sunday. Out of his four scalps, Hasaranga punched the return ticket of the Super Kings batters, a ball after conceding a maximum on three occasions.

Rana, Hasaranga help Rajasthan Royals to first season win in IPL

GUWAHATI, India: Nitish Rana’s batting blitz combined with a four-wicket haul by Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga led Rajasthan Royals to their first victory of this IPL season against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. Rajasthan depended on a 36-ball 81 by Rana to post 182-9 after being invited to bat first at their second home in Guwahati. Hasaranga then turned on the heat with his leg-spin to help restrict Chennai to 176-6 and a six-run win to bounce back from two losses in the T20 tournament. The left-handed Rana put on 82 for the second wicket with Sanju Samson to lay the foundations. Afghanistan left-arm wrist spinner Noor Ahmad once again proved his worth as he broke the stand with the wicket of Samson, who is Rajasthan’s regular captain but playing only as a batsman due to an injury. Rana reached his fifty in 21 balls and bludgeoned the bowlers with 10 fours and five sixes in his stay at the crease. Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin cut short Rana’s knock as he had the batsman stumped to check Rajasthan’s surge. Stand-in-skipper Riyan Parag hit 37 off 28 balls before being bowled by Sri Lankan pace bowler Matheesha Pathirana. Pace spearhead Khaleel Ahmed dismissed Jofra Archer for a duck for his second wicket. Noor and Pathirana both returned figures of 2-28. In Chennai’s reply, Archer struck in the first over to have Rachin Ravindra caught behind for a duck as he celebrated his first wicket this IPL season. Archer had a disastrous start to the tournament when he went for 76 in his four overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad for the league’s most expensive bowling figures ever. Hasaranga struck with his first ball to send back Rahul Tripathi before skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad attempted to put the chase on track
