Warner on Wednesday said that he will miss playing cricket with Kane Williamson at SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Warner posted a series of photos with Williamson on Instagram and he captioned the post as: "Going to miss my breakfast time with the Williamson's and I will miss playing cricket with you brother."
Australian opening batter David Warner has a new home in the Indian Premier League. The former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain was bought in the IPL mega auction by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore and that brings the curtains down on his long stint with SRH. Warner, who had led the franchise to the IPL title, fell out with the team management last season, which saw him getting stripped off captaincy too. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was handed the duty mid-season. The Kiwi batter had shouldered the responsibility in the 2018 season too, when Warner was serving a ban due to his involvement in the 'Sandpapergate' controversy, and taken the team to the final.
Cape Town - Everyone knows about the tradition and aura surrounding Springbok rugby tours to New Zealand.
Having lost Ross Taylor through retirement and regular skipper Kane Williamson through injury, New Zealand will have their task cut out for them when they meet South Africa in the opening match of the two-Test series in Christchurch starting on Thursday.
New Zealand are desperate for a first series win against South Africa and to prove they can still muster a winning combination despite missing 273 Tests-worth of experience with the absence of Ross Taylor (retired), Kane Williamson (injured) and Trent Boult (paternity leave). South Africa are thirsting to lift both their world ranking (fifth) and to boost their World Test Championship standing, with the chance to move up to second if they sweep the two-Test series.
Cape Town - Proteas Test captain Dean Elgar believes the absence of key players in the New Zealand team makes no difference to the almighty challenge that lays ahead for his team in the first Test starting at Hagley Oval on Thursday.
The Proteas will into their first Test against New Zealand - the current World Test Championship holders - as comfortable underdogs in Christchurch on Thursday.
