Chopra won the silver medal in the men's javelin throw final with a best attempt of 88.13m. Grenada's Anderson Peters won the gold medal, while Jakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic won bronze. After winning the silver medal, Chopra said that he is satisfied with the result, adding that he is happy to win a medal for the country.
The 24-year-old Chopra, who had come into the showpiece as a hot medal favourite, produced a best throw of 88.13m to finish second.

Team Jumbo’s Vingegaard tops the overall standings 3min 34sec ahead of two-time defending champion Tadej Pogacar, while Geraint Thomas of Ineos Grenadiers, the 2018 winner, stands third at 8min 13sec. Frenchman David Gaudu of FDJ and Aleksandr Vlasov of Bora round out the top five ahead of Sunday’s stage to Paris which is traditionally a ceremonial run.
