Their players may have earned hefty deals at the IPL mega auction but West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard on Tuesday said its time to move on and focus on international cricket as his team looks to tame India in the T20 series. From the large pool of available players, 14 West Indians were chosen to join Pollard, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell, who were retained by their respective franchises ahead of the auction, making up the largest number of foreign players in the IPL, from any territory outside of India.

Punjab Kings fielding coach Jonty Rhodes has taken up the additional role of batting coach following the departure of Wasim Jaffer. Rhodes is considered one of the best fielders of all time but also made more than 8000 runs for South Africa. The 52-year-old was also sitting alongside head coach Anil Kumble and co-owners at the IPL auction table last week.

Punjab Kings fielding coach Jonty Rhodes has taken up the additional role of batting coach following the departure of Wasim Jaffer. Rhodes is considered one of the best fielders of all time but also made more than 8000 runs for South Africa. The 52-year-old was also sitting alongside head coach Anil Kumble and co-owners at the IPL auction table last week. Rhodes made 5935 runs in 245 ODIs and 2532 runs in 52 Tests.

Young cricketer Tilak Varma was on cloud nine after he was bought for eight times his base price in the IPL 2022 auction. Mumbai Indians (MI) and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) were involved in a bidding war for the 19-year-old, who had a base price at Rs 20 lakh. MI eventually came out on top and purchased him for Rs 1.7 crore. Varma was following the auction with his friends and they cheered him on frantically after MI got him. The franchise took to Twitter to post a video of the moment MI acquired Varma as his friends screamed with joy and happiness. The video was captioned as, "That exact moment when all your dreams come true. Here's a jaadu ki jhappi from your #OneFamily, Tilak!"

Having recently been acquired by Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2022 Auction, David Warner took to Instagram to pass on his Valentine's Day wishes to fans. The Aussie opener posted a dance video from the famous movie The Wolf Of Wall Street and morphed his face into lead actor Leonardo DiCaprio's. The video was well-received by fans and also captioned as, "Who else is in this mood on a Monday night!! #dance #valentines"

IPL auction 2022 took place on Saturday and Sunday in Bengaluru with a total of 204 cricketers being sold from the final list of 600. While some had to return home empty handed, a few lucky ones ended up becoming overnight millionaires. Some of the biggest names in world cricket were up for grabs in the IPL auction 2022 but there were also players only a few had known about. As the teams splurged over 550 crore on a total of 204 players, there were some cricketers for whom Christmas came early.
