Shane Warne Dies: A Look At The Australian Spin Great's Career In Numbers

Australian cricket legend Shane Warne, unarguably the greatest spinner in international cricket, died at the age of 52 due to a suspected heart attack in Thailand on Friday. Warne's management released a brief statement in the early hours of Saturday (AEDT), that he passed away in Koh Samui, Thailand, of a suspected heart attack. "Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived," read a part of the statement. Davis Cup: Ramkumar, Yuki win in straight sets to give India 2-0 lead over Denmark

Delhi Gymkhana – on expected lines – was playing low and fast, and the two Indians on show proved to be much superior against their ill-equipped Danish counterparts as India raced to a 2-0 lead against Denmark in their Davis Cup World Group 1 playoff tie on Friday. Both Ramkumar Ramanathan and Yuki Bhambri were on song from the first point of their respective matches. Ramkumar, India's No.1 singles player, unleashed his big serve and skillful serve-and-volley game that his opponent Christian Sigsgaard had no answer to.

Davis Cup: Yuki Bhambri, Ramkumar Ramanathan put India 2-0 ahead against Denmark with contrasting wins

Yuki Bhambri returned to Davis Cup action with a commanding win while Ramkumar Ramanathan did not even need his 'A game' to emerge victorious as India grabbed a 2-0 lead in the World Group I Play-off tie against Denmark, here on Friday. Taking full advantage of the Danish player's discomfort on the low bounce grass court, Ramkumar cruised to a 6-3 6-2 win over Christian Siggsgaard, ranked as low as 824, in the opening singles of the tie at Delhi Gymkhana Club. There was hardly any fight in the match, that lasted just 59 minutes, as Christian made it easy for the 170th-ranked Indian with his unending unforced errors. Yuki, playing Davis Cup for the first time since 2017, doubled India's lead with a 6-4 6-4 win in the second singles against Mikael Torpegaard, who, though served and stroked confidently to keep the Indian camp on edge.

'Star number one' Virat Kohli raises fan fever in 100th Test

Virat Kohli shirts and face paints jostled to get inside India's Mohali stadium on Friday for the superstar cricketer and national hero's 100th Test match. Kohli is one of the best batsmen of the modern game and until stepping down as skipper in January -- but remaining a player -- was India's most successful Test captain. "We came here for Virat and hope he scores a century in his 100th Test," Rhythm said as he and his friends chanted Kohli's name ahead of the start of the match against Sri Lanka.

India vs Denmark, Davis Cup: Will grass be greener on the Indian side?

Ramkumar Ramanathan, was seen serving big at the Delhi Gymkhana on Thursday. The organisers were checking the speed gun and Ramkumar was giving them the perfect trial for the machine before the India-Denmark World Group 1 Playoff tie to be played on Friday and Saturday. The fast, zipping grass at the Gymkhana – a venue specifically chosen to give the Indian team a home advantage against the Danes – is perfect for Ramkumar's preferred serve-and-volley game.
