Daniil Medvedev appears to be in good spirits despite being banned from Wimbledon. The All England Club barred all players from Russia and Belarus in response to the war in Ukraine, meaning the world No 1 has been left unable to compete, but has been spending time on the grass with former Manchester United star Bastian Schweinsteiger instead.
The All England Club's (AELTC) chairman Ian Hewitt was left «very disappointed» by the ATP and WTA's decision to strip Wimbledon of ranking points but added the championships were left with «no other viable» alternative than banning players from Russia and Belarus from competing this year.
Wimbledon chief executive Sally Bolton said Monday she was relieved the world's top stars had showed up at the Grand Slam even though no ranking points will be on offer.
