East Bengal Clubbed With Nejmeh, Bashundhara Kings, Paro In AFC Challenge League

Indian Super League club East Bengal has been drawn in Group A of the AFC Challenge League alongside Nejmeh SC (Lebanon), Bashundhara Kings (Bangladesh) and Paro FC (Bhutan). The Group A encounters will happen at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu. The Red and Gold Brigade made it to the competition thanks to its title conquest at the Kalinga Super Cup this year. Earlier this month, East Bengal played the qualifying matches for the AFC Champions League Two, suffering a 0-2 defeat against Altyn Asyr FC (Turkmenistan), relegating it to the AFC Challenge League.

In one of the rare instances in Test cricket, Pakistan pair Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan had to run between the wickets to add 4 runs to their total on Day 2 of the first Test against Bangladesh. It was Shakeel who drove a ball towards mid-off on the bowling of Nahid Rana. Shoriful Aslam, placed at mid-off, managed to get his hand on the ball, hence reducing the speed. Though his fielding prevented the ball from touching the boundary rope, the Pakistani duo still managed to run between the wickets and complete four runs.

Left-handers Saud Shakeel and Saim Ayub hit fighting half-centuries to help Pakistan recover to 158-4 on a rain-hit opening day of the first Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on Wednesday. Shakeel was unbeaten on 57 at the close while Ayub scored 56 for his maiden fifty during an innings-building stand of 98 for the fourth wicket after Pakistan were tottering at 16-3.
