Veteran India opener Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from all forms of cricket two years after he last donned the national jersey, saying that he leaves the scene a content man after representing the country in all three formats. The 38-year-old made his international debut in 2010 in an ODI against Australia in Visakhapatnam and his last India game was also a 50-over match, against Bangladesh in 2022. Pakistan vs Bangladesh, 1st Test Day 4, LIVE Updates: Bangladesh fought their way back into the game on Day 3, ending on 316/5 at stumps, trailing Pakistan by 132 runs. Opener Shadman Islam played a fine knock of 93 to set the tone, while half-centuries from the Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das meant that Bangladesh stayed in the hunt. Rahim and Litton stayed unbeaten overnight, and have the potential to close in on, if not overtake, Pakistan's total. Shaheen Afridi is still wicketless, but would hope to give a few breakthroughs and maintain Pakistan's lead. (Live Scorecard)
Pakistan assistant coach Azhar Mahmood revealed on Friday that they didn't use spinners on day three of the first Test match against Bangladesh because there was grass on the pitch at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. During Bangladesh's first inning on day three, Khurram Shahzad led the Pakistan bowling attack after he picked up two wickets. Naseem Shah, Naseem Shah and Saim Ayub bagged one wicket each in their respective spells after the end of the third day. Speaking at the post-day press conference, Mahmood said that the team management thought the grass on the wicket would favour the seamers.
Star wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan was denied his double century in the first innings of the ongoing 1st Test against Sri Lanka by Pakistan captain Shan Masood, who declared the innings at 448/6 on Day 2. Rizwan was batting on 171 when Masood decided to call back him and Shaheen Afridi (29) late in the final session at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday. However, Rizwan still managed to script history, ending a 15-year long wait for Pakistan in Test cricket.
