Legendary Indian cricket team batter Krishnamachari Srikkanth believes that both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be part of the T20 World Cup 2024 squad if they are available for selection.

The two veteran cricketers have not played T20I cricket for quite some time and ahead of the T20I series against Afghanistan, a lot of questions have been asked about their possible inclusion.

However, Srikkanth said that both of them will be looking to win the World Cup title and they cannot be ignored for the competition. "Virat Kohli is a certainty.

He is in great form. Rohit Sharma, maybe, is confident because of how he scored in the World Cup. He will regroup and try and do well in the IPL.

Veteran Indian cricket team wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik said that Rohit Sharma and Co lacked body language and pointed out 'fear of failure' as one of the main reasons behind the loss against England in the first Test match in Hyderabad on Sunday. India dominated major parts of the Test match but a brilliant knock from Ollie Pope and a seven-wicket haul from Tom Hartley clinched the game for the visitors. During the analysis of the match, Karthik said that there is a massive difference in culture between the two teams and it seemed like the Indian batters were not free in their minds to play shots.
The Hyderabad Test loss should serve as wake-up call for India that England's 'Bazball' strategy is effective on slow tracks as well, according to former captain Nasser Hussain. Since embracing Bazball, England are yet to lose a Test series and they fashioned a memorable 28-run win on the back of Ollie Pope's monumental 196 and debutant left-arm spinner Tom Hartley's seven-wicket haul after conceding a massive 190-run first innings lead in the opening Test against India. "India will probably rue their first innings. They got 436 but actually they could have got a lot more if not for some sloppy dismissals. They will come back. They are a very fine side and history tells you it will be tough for England," Hussain wrote in his column for 'Sky Sports'.
A five-match Test series in 2024 is as rare as they come. England's red-ball tour of India, which begins on Thursday, is therefore significant not only because it offers fans a "traditional" full-length series, but also because it will be the biggest test of their eye-catching "Bazball" approach to Test cricket.
BCCI Awards 2024 Live Updates: BCCI Awards 2024 ceremony has begun in Hyderabad. India men's cricket team, including skipper Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and others are present at the venue.
Former India all-rounder and head coach Ravi Shastri will be honoured with BCCI's Lifetime Achievement Award on Tuesday. Shubman Gill will be presented with Cricketer of the Year award following a memorable 12 months when he became the fastest to cross the 2000-run mark in ODIs and also scored five hundreds in the format. "He (Shastri) has been chosen for the honour while Gill will be awarded the cricketer of the year," said a BCCI official. The BCCI awards will be held for the first time since 2019 and both India and England teams are expected to be in attendance ahead of the first Test beginning on Thursday.
Former India opener Aakash Chopra has suggested that Yashasvi Jaiswal is slightly ahead of Shubman Gill in the pecking order as captain Rohit Sharma's partner at the top in T20Is. Since making his debut last year, Jaiswal has been in stunning form in the shortest format of the game. Gill's form, on the other hand, has dipped since the ODI World Cup last year in India. With the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held later this year, Chopra feels Jaiswal will open the innings with Rohit during the tournament.
