Judd Trump was knocked out in the quarter-finals of the English Open in Brentwood by young Chinese player Wu Yize.World number one Trump had won all of their first three meetings, including from 4-0 down in Saudi Arabia recently, but this time Wu held on to claim a 5-3 victory. The pair shared the opening four frames, but 20-year-old Wu then won two in a row and clinched the win with a break of 62.Trump had no complaints, saying on wst.tv: "I think Wu was the better player and he is deservedly through to the semi-finals.

He stands a better chance of doing well than me."I hope Wu can fulfil his potential. He has been knocking on the door for a while.

I hope he wins and that he can put on a good show in the semi-finals."Wu will next face India's Ishpreet Singh Chadha, who won a final-frame decider against Mark Selby.A break of 114 in frame three cemented Ishpreet’s dominant start as he took a 3-0 lead, which soon became 4-1, but Selby clawed his way back to pull level. And he looked set to complete the comeback, only for Ishpreet to make it across the line for a 5-4 victory. In the other semi-final, former world champion Neil Robertson will take on England’s Chris Wakelin.Wakelin secured a place in his third ranking event semi-final after a 5-2 defeat of Mark Allen, while Robertson eased to a 5-1 victory over Barry Hawkins.
