Wimbledon organisers have officially announced that the winners of this year's women's and men's singles tournaments will be awarded £2.35 million in prize money, marking a 17.5 percent increase from last year.

The highly anticipated tournament started on Monday with Novak Djokovic the reigning men's single champion after defeating the Australian fan-favorite Nick Kyrgios in an exhilarating 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 final in 2022.

Djokovic aiming for his eighth Wimbledon title which would bring him level with Roger Federer. On the women's side, defending champion Elena Rybakina goes in defence of her single's title.

The Kazakhstani sensation claimed her first-ever Grand Slam victory by triumphing over Tunisian talent Ons Jabeur with a thrilling 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory on Centre Court twelve months ago.
