Virgil van Dijk has warned his Liverpool teammates against complacency when they travel to face Manchester United in the Premier League on Monday night.
Both sides have experienced underwhelming starts to the new league campaign and are yet to record a win between them from their opening two matches.
United head into the match following back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Brentford, while Liverpool have drawn against both Fulham and Crystal Palace. "They [United] are a good team, in my opinion, they have good players all over the pitch," he told reporters. "Obviously they’re not in the best situation confidence-wise, but it’s the perfect game to turn it around for them." Jurgen Klopp's side recorded an emphatic double over United last season, winning 5-0 at Old Trafford and 4-0 at Anfield, but Van Dijk is just focused on getting a positive result this time around.
He added: "We’re looking at ourselves and we want to make sure we’re ready for it and we are going to work hard this week again. "It’s massive but it’s not about making a statement, we want to win and do everything that’s possible to win there. "Over the years it has proven tough for us to win there.
