Victor Mete, member of 2018 Canadian world junior team, denies involvement in alleged sexual assault
Victor Mete says he was not involved in an alleged sexual assault involving members of Canada's 2018 world junior hockey team.
Mete was loaned by the Montreal Canadiens to the national men's junior team in December 2017. Hockey Canada quietly settled a lawsuit last month after a woman, now 24, claimed she was assaulted by members of the country's 2018 gold-medal winning world junior hockey team at a gala and golf function four years ago in London, Ont.
Although Mete was a member of the team, he says in a statement issued today that he was with family in Jamaica at the time of the alleged assault.
