USA stun Jamaica to win 4x100m relay gold at World Championships

The USA produced a superb display to pull off a stunning upset over Jamaica in the women's 4x100m relay at the World Championships on Saturday while a flubbed baton handover proved costly for the US men's team as they finished second to Canada.

Jamaica were anchored by new 200 metres champion Shericka Jackson but Twanisha Terry ran a terrific final leg to bring home the hosts' 10th gold medal in Eugene. "It's just an amazing feeling," Terry said. "The race was electrifying.

The United States had looked set to retain the men's title until Elijah Hall and Marvin Bracy lost time with a slow exchange, the latest disappointment for a country with incredible depth of sprinting talent.

Asher-Smith is now a doubt for the Commonwealth Games after she suffered a mystery leg injury around the final bend and although she bravely managed to hobble the final 15m to pass the baton to Daryll Neita, Great Britain’s chance of a podium place was gone.
Nigeria’s Joy Udo-Gabriel, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma, and Grace Nwokocha set a new mark of 42.22s at the World Championships in Oregon, USA.
