Chelsea are continuing negotiations to sign Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana this summer and there are ‘no doubts’ the player’s head has been turned, according to transfer insider Dean Jones. Thomas Tuchel has overseen a busy summer at Stamford Bridge and they could be set to spend their biggest fee of the window yet, with weeks remaining until the September 1 deadline.
Two new defenders have signed for Chelsea this summer in the form of centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly and versatile left-back Marc Cucurella, but further recruits appear to still be on the agenda.
Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen have both departed on free transfers and the Blues have been linked with new recruits all summer, including Jules Kounde and Josko Gvardiol.
But their top target now appears to be Leicester ace Fofana. The club have already had two bids rejected by the Foxes, the latter of which was around £70 million, and they appear to be closing in on the £85 million asking price set by the East Midlands side.
