Ian Rush has told Todd Boehly why Chelsea must sign Cristiano Ronaldo now that a move for Mohamed Salah is off the table. The Liverpool forward was reportedly 'prepared' to return to Stamford Bridge this summer before penning a new deal at Anfield, handing Thomas Tuchel a heartbreaking transfer blow.

It's said that the Egypt international courted the interest of several top-flight sides amid an increasingly uncertain future at the club, with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid reportedly rivalling the Blues for Salah's signature.

There had been reports that the 30-year-old was prepared to see out his deal at Liverpool and leave the club on a free but, by putting pen to paper, he's put to bed months of speculation.

Salah signed a three-year extension worth £350,000-a-week with Jurgen Klopp's side, becoming the club's highest-paid player in the Reds' history.
