The Asia Cup 2022 stood witness to some unsavoury incident as fans caused mayhem after the Afghanistan-Pakistan match on Wednesday.

The match was a closely-contested one as Pakistan won in the last over chasing a low target of 130. There was fight between Pakistan's Asif Ali and Afghanistan's Fareed Ahmed Malik, after the former was given send-off by the latter.

Latter, Afghanistan fans could be seen uprooting the stadium chairs and creating ruckus. Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ramiz Raja has taken strong exception to the unruly behaviour of the fans. "You don't identify hooliganism with cricket.

This is bad. You don't want such things happening in cricket. We will send a letter to ICC, we will raise our voice against this.

According to a report in the 'Daily Jang' newspaper, Ramiz decided to release the amount immediately after the national team doctor Najeeb Soomro sent in a request to him that one million rupees be provided for the treatment of a chronic knee problem that Saqlain had been facing for a while now. The amount was sought while the team was in the Netherlands recently for an ODI series and where Saqlain sought some treatment.

Shaheen replaced Hasan Ali and veteran batter Shoaib Malik was also excluded from the squad.
Former captain Shahid Afridi claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not taking care of their star pacer Shaheen Afridi in his rehabilitation process. Shaheen, who has been named in Pakistan's T20 World Cup squad, left the team from UAE to go to England for treatment and recovery for a knee injury he had suffered during the Test series against Sri Lanka. However, PCB chief Ramiz Raja came out to deny that the board had "disowned" Shaheen, saying that it is unthinkable that the board would not take care of the star pacer, calling it an "unfortunate controversy".
