SINGAPORE: Singapore swimmer Toh Wei Soong clinched a silver at the Asian Para Games on Tuesday (Oct 24), the country's first medal at the games in Hangzhou, China.
Toh finished second in the men's 400m freestyle S7 final with a time of 5:12.15.Ernie Gawilan of the Philippines took gold while China's Huang Xianquan bagged the bronze.This is Toh's fourth Asiad medal.
In the 2018 edition in Jakarta, he won two gold medals and a bronze.At the 2023 ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia, Toh set two new Games records in the 50m and 100m S7 freestyle events on his way to winning five medals - three gold and two silver.Singapore's second medal at the Hangzhou Para Games soon followed, in table tennis.Claire Toh Shumin received the joint bronze medal after falling to China's Liu Jing in the women's singles semi-final.She shared the bronze with Thailand's Chilchitparyak Bootwansirina, who lost to Seo Su-yeon of South Korea.
