Storm Babet is set to bring heavy rain to Greater Manchester and the rest of the UK over the next couple of days. An amber weather alert for rain - which warns of a potential risk to life and property - has been issued for parts of the region from midday on Friday to 6am on Saturday.
A yellow warning of rain covers the whole of Greater Manchester from midnight on Thursday to 6am on Saturday. Meanwhile, a part of Scotland has been issued a rare red weather warning where many will see "exceptional rainfall and impactful wind" which could present a significant 'danger to life'.
The red warning is the first to be issued since Storm Dennis in February 2020 and will come into force from 6pm today (Ocober 19) and will last until 12pm tomorrow. We’re likely to see flooding, power disruption, travel disruption, there is a risk to life as well.
