It's a great time to be a San Antonio Spurs fan. On the eve of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony, former Spurs guard Tony Parker, coach Gregg Popovich and former assistant Becky Hammon are set to enter the hoop hall on Saturday.
Parker, 41, a four-time NBA champion, spent 17 of his 18 NBA seasons with the Spurs. When he entered the league, he was just the third French player to play in the NBA.
In 2007, he became the first European to win Finals MVP. Parker had his No. 9 retired by the Spurs in 2009 and will be presented by former teammates Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan.
Popovich, 74, the winningest and longest tenured coach in NBA history, has been a fixture in San Antonio for 27 seasons. He led the Spurs to a playoff berth for a record 22 consecutive seasons from 1997 to 2019.
