Spoiling Partick Thistle Women's Firhill party on the agenda for Hamilton Accies

Boss Robert Watson hopes Hamilton Accies Women can spoil Partick’s party at Firhill this weekend - and bounce back from their Hibs hammering last time out.

Accies head to the home of the men’s first team this Sunday after the game was moved from Thistle Women’s regular home at Petershill Park and it presents the visitors with the chance to make a rare outing on grass.

Watson is looking for a response from his side after their heavy 8-1 defeat to Hibs last time out in SWPL1 on October 22 and hopes they can rain on Partick’s big day.

He said: “Partick Women have never played at Firhill so it has been moved for that reason, and that gives us an opportunity to play at a new venue we haven’t been to before. “I don’t think it is of a particular advantage to any team with the game now being on grass. “It is very rare that we play on grass in our league, it is usually astroturf, so it will be a brilliant venue for the game. “From our point of view, it is also a chance to go and spoil their party. “Either way, it is important we get a positive performance, show our resilience as a group and prove we are learning after the first round of fixtures. “We have got something to prove after the Hibs result.” Accies return after the international break looking to chip away at the three point gap that separates them from Montrose at the foot of the table Watson’s side are still chasing their first win heading into their 12th game of the campaign, having drawn twice and lost on 10 occasions so far.
