Southampton could look to seal Chelsea striker Armando Broja’s return to St Mary’s after missing out on signing Cody Gakpo on deadline day, according to transfer insider Dean Jones. Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has spent more than £50million on strengthening his squad during the summer window, but he may draft in more fresh faces ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.
Broja is back at Chelsea after spending last season on loan at Southampton, where he scored nine goals in 38 appearances. But he has found his opportunities limited since returning to Stamford Bridge and has only been offered 39 minutes of action by Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel since the new campaign got underway.
Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has previously told GIVEMESPORT that Southampton could pounce if Broja’s current employers are willing to sanction another loan move away from west London.
The 20-year-old has also been linked with a switch to West Ham United, who were reportedly preparing to lodge a £30million bid last month, but a switch failed to come to fruition.
